Little Eagle Woman Sentenced for Wire Fraud

United States Attorney Brendan V. Johnson announced that a Little Eagle, South Dakota, woman charged with Wire Fraud was sentenced on October 16, 2012, by United States District Judge Charles B. Kornmann. Kara One Feather, age 31, was sentenced to 6 months in custody, 3 years of supervised release, a $100 assessment to the Victim Assistance Fund, and $15,572.66 in restitution.

One Feather was indicted by a federal grand jury on December 14, 2011, and pled guilty to the charge on July 23, 2012.

The conviction arose from charges that One Feather used interstate wire communications to defraud a Nebraska man of approximately $15,000 from July 2010 to January 2011 by making false and fraudulent representations to the victim, who wired money to her bank in South Dakota.

The investigation was conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Mikal Hanson.

One Feather will report to the United States Marshal’s Services on October 30, 2012, to begin serving her sentence.
